CrashWorks STEAM Studio, LLC

Feature-9.webp

In May of 2018, Shauna attended an Introduction to Business Ownership class presented by the SBDC. She credits this class for putting her on the path to a successful and growing business in downtown Wichita Falls. Crashworks STEAM Studio and Makerspace provide the first STEAM-focused place for children to learn and play in Wichita Falls. Crashworks provides field trips, specialized camps, a Kid’s Night Out, Mommy & Me preschool programs, and afternoon STEAM programs.

Shauna received assistance from the SBDC in all areas of starting a business. Quick Books training soon followed as she considered the best bookkeeping program to meet her needs. When she entered the i.d.e.a. WF Business Plan competition, the SBDC helped her redefine her goals and measure her progress while also creating a new business plan and pitch presentation for possible investors. During the summer of 2021, CrashWorks began exploring the idea of a larger facility. Fast forward to August 2022, CrashWorks STEAM Studio is now located in a 12,000-square-foot building. The expansion process took a year of hard work and hundreds of hours, but CrashWorks has plenty of space with room to grow - and remains Wichita Falls' first and favorite STEAM-themed Discovery Center! In true entrepreneur fashion, Shauna is already planning for the top floor to be transformed into a Children's Museum, which will be another first for Wichita Falls. Shauna often gives credit to SBDC for the assistance provided to this high-profile business, saying "Coming from an educational background I knew nothing about business. The SBDC taught me everything I know about running a business!” She frequently tells other small business owners to connect with the SBDC.
